So You Want to Join totally Locally?
Well it’s like this… you can’t. We’re not being funny, it’s just that there’s nothing to sign, nothing to pay, and no certificate (though we can send you some goodies if you like). It’s a lot less than that, but also a heck of a lot more! Totally Locally is about little things that make big changes in our towns.
Little things you can do… while you shop
If every adult in the UK spent just £5 of their weekly spend in their local independent shops & businesses, instead of online or at supermarkets, our high streets would change dramatically. It would mean better towns, more jobs and a nicer place for everyone. This five pound message is a BIG part of the Totally Locally campaign. See just how much it would mean to your town… then start to make a few little changes…
Do you pop into the supermarket on your way into work to buy a pint of milk and a jar of coffee? If you do, could you get it at your local newsagent? If you’re buying a present, why not look in the gift shop around the corner? Totally Locally isn’t anti-supermarket, it’s about supporting your local shops so they can support your town. Make just a fiver’s worth of change, then spread the word. You’ll start a little micro economy – money begins to circulate round and around in your town.

Little things you can do… for your town
If your town is already running Totally Locally, there’s so many little ways you can help. It can be anything from dropping some posters around some of your local shops, to organising events, to taking photos, to writing Hidden Gems profiles for the website. If you’re a photographer, a designer, a writer, or just someone who’s a bit interested in doing something good for your town, email us and we’ll introduce you to your town’s Totally Locally champions. And if you have an idea that you think you could help with tell them! We love new ideas.

So To Sum Up
If you say you want to join….. well that means you probably already have. It’s a state of mind, and a determination to change your town by changing little things in your shopping habit. After that, it’s up to you how much more you want to join in. If you really want, we can send you a Totally Locally non-membership card. It’ll probably say “I’m not a member of Totally Locally, and I’ve got this official Totally Locally Non-Membership Card to Prove it”. Because we’re nice like that.
